Urban Development and Social Policy

Contemporary cities turn into spatial centers of economic, political and cultural change and conflict. The policy of public authorities on urban development and solution of urban social problems becomes a key factor in this process. Sociological analysis plays an important role in the decision-making process, especially in the matters of community involvement in politics. This course provides students with tools to understand the mechanisms of urban policies, as well as to develop the ability to propose and critically interpret urban policies in the Ukrainian context.
