Social Stratification, Mobility, and Inequality

The course focuses on the study of mainstream contemporary sociological approaches to understanding and researching social inequalities, stratification and mobility in contemporary societies of various types. Based on the foundations of stratification theories and class analysis, the course acquaints students with contemporary methodologies of empirical identification and explanation of social inequalities and stratification, study of forms and social consequences of mobility in societies. The course includes individual assignments of analytical reading, as well as assignments of analytical-descriptive and analytical-explanatory type.
